We are happy to announce that Eileen Santos has been selected to receive the Psychology Staff Spotlight Award for this quarter. Eileen has been a teacher at the Megan E. Daly Infant Development Program (IDP) for 12 years! She is a strong and dedicated teacher who has always worn many hats in the classroom. She has a passion not only for infants and toddlers but also for the program as a whole. She looks out for everyone that she comes into contact with, from colleagues and student interns to parents and the children who she cares for each day.

Psychology Staff Spotlight Award – Christian Herr

We are happy to announce that Christian Herr has been selected to receive the Psychology Staff Spotlight Award for this quarter. Christian works as the Purchasing Specialist in the Financial Services Unit of the Department. Christian started with the Department in February 2020, about a month before the campus transitioned to remote work. That transition brought on many changes to campus purchasing practices and policies, which Christian has had to navigate while at the same time learning his new job.

Dr. Mays to Receive 2020 Carl Taube Award for Lifetime Contribution to the Field of Mental Health

Congratulations to Distinguished Prof. Vickie Mays, who will receive the 2020 Carl Taube Award for Lifetime Contribution to the Field of Mental Health from the American Public Health Association. Created in 1990, the award annually recognizes one scholar who has made important lifetime contributions to public mental health, and it is one of the highest honors in the field.

We are happy to announce that Jocelyn Rose Coleman, our payroll and student personnel coordinator, has been selected to receive the Psychology Staff Spotlight award this quarter for her exceptional work as part of our HR team. She joined Psychology in February 2020, right before we transitioned to remote work. She transferred from our UCLA Central Resources Unit and comes with extensive UCPath experience. She has been an amazing addition to our Human Resources team as she brings so much UCPath knowledge, expertise, and analytical skills.

Congratulations to all our Psychology Department graduates receiving the Doctor of Philosophy, the Ph.D., the highest academic degree awarded by the university. Although we are unable to hold our usual commencement activities this year, all graduates will be invited to join our Hooding Ceremony next year. Sixteen candidates are being honored in the 2020 Psychology Virtual Celebration in formal recognition of their distinguished achievements and their contributions to the field of psychology.
